Drug is a kind of medicine that is used to cure diseases. But some people take drugs not for treatment, rather for fun or to feel better for a short time. This bad habit is called drug addiction. Drug addiction is a serious problem in today’s world. In Bangladesh, many young people are becoming addicted to drugs. At first, they take it just for fun or to forget sadness, but later they cannot stop using it. This becomes a harmful habit. Drug addiction destroys both body and mind. Addicts become weak and sick. They cannot study or work properly. People start to hate them. They lose respect in society and love from their family. They may suffer from many diseases like memory loss, sleeplessness, vomiting, high blood pressure and organ damage. Drugs are also very costly. So, many addicts steal, rob or even do crimes to get money for drugs. To stop this problem, we must create awareness in society. TV, radio, social media can help a lot. Schools and colleges should arrange seminars and discussions to teach students about the dangers of drugs. Government cannot solve this alone. Everyone must help. Most importantly, following religious teachings can keep people away from such bad habits.
বঙ্গানুবাদ: মাদক সাধারণত রোগ দূরীকরণে ওষুধ হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়। কিন্তু মাঝে মাঝে কিছু মানুষ এটাকে আমোদ অথবা ব্যথা থেকে মুক্তির জন্য অভ্যাস হিসেবে গ্রহণ করে। ক্ষতিকর মাদক গ্রহণের এ অভ্যাসকে মাদকাসক্তি বলা হয়। মাদকাসক্তি আধুনিক সভ্যতার অভিশাপ। বর্তমানকালে, এটা সমগ্র বিশ্বের সমস্যা। মাদকাসক্তি আমাদের দেশের যুব সমাজকে গ্রাস করছে। যারা মাদক গ্রহণ করে তারা এটা বন্ধ করতে পারে না। মাদক গ্রহণে আক্রান্ত হওয়ার পেছনে কিছু কারণ রয়েছে। কিছু লোক তাদের বেদনাদায়ক অতীত বা বর্তমান ভোলার জন্য মাদক গ্রহণ করে। কেউ কেউ আনন্দলাভের উদ্দেশ্যে মাদক গ্রহণ করে। কিছু লোক প্রথমে মজা করার জন্য মাদক গ্রহণ করে কিন্তু পরবর্তীকালে এটা নেশায় রূপান্তরিত হয়। মাদকাসক্তির পরবর্তী ফলাফল ভীষণ ভয়াবহ ও মারাত্মক। মাদকাসক্ত ব্যক্তির স্বাস্থ্য ধীরে ধীরে ভেঙে পড়ে। তারা মানসিক ও শারীরিক শক্তি হারিয়ে ফেলে। ফলে তারা সমাজে মর্যাদা ও আত্মীয়-স্বজনের ভালোবাসা থেকেও বঞ্চিত হয়। চারপাশের মানুষ তাদের অবহেলা করে এবং ঘৃণার চোখে দেখে। নানা ধরনের কঠিন রোগ তাদেরকে আক্রান্ত করে। তারা রক্তস্বল্পতা, অনিদ্রা, বমিভাব, শারীরিক দুর্বলতা, রক্তচাপ এবং অন্যান্য মারাত্মক রোগে ভোগে। তাদের ফুসফুস, কিডনি ও লিভার ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হয়। মাদক ব্যয়বহুল। তাই, অর্থ যোগানোর জন্য আসক্ত ব্যক্তি চুরি, ছিনতাই, হত্যাসহ সব ধরনের খারাপ কাজে লিপ্ত হয়। এজন্য, যেকোনো উপায়ে এটা থামানো উচিত। সামাজিক সচেতনতা জাগরণের মাধ্যমে অভিশপ্ত মাদকাসক্তি নিয়ন্ত্রণ করা যেতে পারে। গণমাধ্যম এক্ষেত্রে কার্যকরী ভূমিকা পালন করতে পারে। মাঝে মাঝে স্কুল, কলেজ এবং বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়গুলোতে আলোচনা এবং বিতর্ক অনুষ্ঠিত হওয়া উচিত। সরকার একা এ সমস্যার সমাধান করতে পারবে না। জনগণ অবশ্যই সাহায্য করবে। সর্বোপরি, ধর্মীয় নীতি সর্বাপেক্ষা গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন করতে পারে।
