Diaspora means when a group of people leave their homeland and go to live in other countries. People may leave their country for many reasons. Some go to other countries for a better life and good jobs. Some are forced to leave their country because of natural disasters, political problems, war, or racism. Today, one of the main reasons for diaspora is globalization. In history, we see many examples of diaspora. The Jews were the first known group who faced diaspora. Their ancestor Abraham left Iraq and went to Egypt. Later, the Jews had to leave Egypt and went to Palestine. Later, many of them were forced to leave Palestine and migrate to Europe and America. The Aryans also moved from Central Europe and came to the Indian sub-continent. So, they were also diasporas. After World War II, many Jews went back to Palestine and created a new country called Israel. Now, the local people of Palestine are being forced to leave their land and live in other countries. In recent times, the war in Syria, Iraq, and Libya is also forcing people to leave their homes. They are becoming diasporas in different countries. The Rohingya people from Myanmar have also faced diaspora. The Myanmar government forced them to leave their country. Many Rohingyas are now living in Bangladesh and other countries. Although some people move for a better life, diaspora often brings pain and suffering. People lose their homes, families, and culture. So, diaspora is a matter of both hope and sadness.
